MRI Upload Instructions

Step 1: Locate images

Most likely you received a CD/DVD from the place you had your X-Ray/MRI/CT images done. In some cases, you might even get a USB drive, and occasionally you will be provided with a link to download your images/results/reports.

Step 2: Transfer to Your Computer

Make a folder on your computer’s desktop and name it with your full name (if you have more than one study you can put date next to it or some other unique identifier).

In case you were provided with a download link, simply download the files to the folder you just made. If you were given physical media, take the CD/DVD/USB and put it into your computer. Once loaded, please open that drive (usually marked with D, E or F on Windows PC or it will appear as a drive on your MAC’s desktop).

SELECT ALL the files and copy them into a folder you created on desktop. If double click doesn’t open the said drive, do a right click on it and select “open”.

It is very important to copy all of the files you were provided by whomever took your X-Ray/MRI/CT scan. Please don’t send us partial folders, shortcuts, viewers only, files you think are important and such. Every file is important, and we need a complete package. The only way we can process your images is if you send us ALL OF THE FILES (images, viewer, DICOM folder, miscellaneous files, etc.) provided to you.

Step 3: Dropbox Account

If you don’t have a Dropbox account, all you need is an e-mail to create one. It’s free and very simple, then just navigate to www.dropbox.com and log in to your account.

Dropbox’s free tier will give you 2 GB of space for you to upload your files, which should be more than enough for all your X-Rays/MRIs/CT scans.

Step 4: Upload to Dropbox

Once you’re in your Dropbox account make sure you navigate to “All Files” (first option in left column). If you just opened a new Dropbox account, there will be no files listed.

Please click on the blue “Upload” button and select “Folder”, navigate to your computer’s desktop, select the folder with your name (where you just copied files and subfolders) and click “Upload”.

Depending on the size of the folder and/or your internet connection, the upload process can take from a few seconds to a few minutes, and sometimes even longer.

Step 5: Share it with Bonati

Once your data is uploaded it will be listed in “All Files” section of your Dropbox account. Please select the folder you just uploaded by clicking on the checkmark in front of it.

Once you do that there will be a “Share” button in the right column or at the top toolbar it will say Share so please click on that. You can also click on the three dots (“…”) appearing in same line where your file is and after the folder name (those three dots will appear if you hover your mouse over the file name) and pick “Share” from the dropdown menu.

Bonati’s Dropbox account is dropbox@bonati.com, so please put that into the e-mail section of the Share Pop Up window, then click blue “Share folder” button and you’re done.

Note: optionally you can compress/zip the folder you made and upload it to Dropbox as a file. This is recommended if you have multiple studies or images from different institutions. Or you can simply create multiple folders on your desktop, name them respectively with unique names and upload/share one by one.

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee files you share with Bonati will work with our system, but we’ll try our best to at least recreate the CD/DVD from data you provided to us. This way Bonati surgeons can review your X-Ray/MRI/CT images directly from the images you provided.

PLEASE DO NOT:

Please do not send e-mail to dropbox@bonati.com. This e-mail box is not monitored, and you will not be able to attach all the necessary files for us to successfully import them into our system or recreate CD/DVD due to e-mail attachment limits and/or firewall restrictions.

If you have an individual report, insurance card(s) or similar document you’d like to share with us, please send those directly to your Bonati representative/advocate via e-mail. There is no need to go through Dropbox procedure for such documents.

Please do not upload individual files from the CD/DVD/USB to Dropbox or send us partial data. We cannot stress enough how important it is for us to receive every file you were provided with by your imaging institution.

Please don’t use any other service for file transfer. If you already have your images on iCloud, Google Drive, Microsoft’s OneDrive or similar please provide us with a link to those files by e-mailing it to your Bonati representative/advocate.

Please do not e-mail any links to dropbox@bonati.com. You are solely responsible if your files are compromised if you choose to use any service other than Dropbox due to HIPPA compliance.

Please avoid uploading CD/DVD that is encrypted or password protected. These files cannot be imported into our system due to encryption. If you want to password protect the compressed/zip files you share with Bonati please provide your representative with that password.

If you only have a CD/DVD that is password protected you can still try and upload it, give us a password and we will try to recreate it here at the Institute, but we will not be able to import it into our system due to encryption restrictions.

Please do not share any other documents to Bonati’s Dropbox account other than your X-Rays/MRIs/CT scans due to limited space.

If you have any questions, please call/e-mail your Bonati representative/advocate and they will help you in case these instructions are not clear or anything else in relation to Dropbox file sharing.
