A Comprehensive Treatment Protocol: Gentle, Effective, Innovative
The treatment protocol at The Bonati Spine Institute is comprehensive in scope and individualized to the needs of each patient. Each stage of the protocol is performed on the medical campus of The Bonati Spine Institute, insuring seamless and precise coordination and communication. The stages of a typical Bonati Institute treatment protocol follow:
Day 1
- Registration and completion of New Patient Forms
- Consultation with Nurse Practitioner regarding medical history, symptoms, medications, and prior therapies
- Neurological testing
Day 2
- Pre-operative consultation with surgeon
- MRI discussion with surgeon
- Nerve conduction testing (if required)
- Blood Work
- EKG
- Chest X-ray
- Medical Clearances
Day 3
Day 4
- Post-operative consultation with surgeon
- Evaluation for physical therapy
Day 5
If possible, it is recommended that patients planning surgery at The Bonati Spine Institute complete a schedule of pre-operative testing before traveling to The Bonati Spine Institute and under the supervision of their family physician. Those tests include:
- CMP 24
- CBC with differential
- PT / NR
- PTT
- HIV (within 12 months of surgery)
- UA and Microscopic
- Pregnancy (for women under 55 and able to bear children)
The following are tests that are required before surgery:
- EKG (within 3 months of surgery with interpretation)
- Chest X-ray (within 3 months of surgery with interpretation)
- Cardiac clearance (for heart patients, including last stress test and/or Echo results)
