Quality comprehensive care for your patients
The Bonati Spine Institute is an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), specializing in elective outpatient surgical procedures. The Bonati Spine Institute does not offer emergency care and does not offer overnight hospitalization.
At present, there are over 6,000 ambulatory surgical centers in the United States. Surgeons, as well as patients, now prefer ambulatory surgery centers for outpatient procedures for several reasons:
- Cost. In many cases, an outpatient procedure done in an ASC costs between one-half and one-third as much as the same procedure done in a hospital
- Convenience. There is less "red tape" at an ambulatory surgical center compared to most hospitals. Patients also like the fact that they can leave an ASC relatively quickly after their surgery, which translates into less time lost from work.
- Greater efficiency. It takes less time to prepare a patient and operating room in a specialized ASC than in a standard hospital.
- Greater control over procedures and standards. Many doctors prefer working in an ASC because they can set the standards for staffing, safety precautions, postoperative care, etc., rather than having these things decided for them by a hospital manager.
- Dependable. Scheduled surgery times are not likely to be delayed or bumped by non-related emergencies, as they may be at hospitals.
- Comfortable. Patients and their families can relax in a pleasant environment, far from the emergency and trauma situations one may witness in a hospital.
- Advanced. Ambulatory surgery centers are known for the newest high-tech medical equipment and facilities.
