

Hudson, FL – May 19, 2009 – The Bonati Institute, a world leader in advanced spine surgery, has awarded Hunter Newton, a student from Hudson High School, a scholarship for $2,000. During Awards Night held at the school, Jorge O. Weksler, M.D., a General Surgeon at The Bonati Institute, presented the graduating senior with the award.
The scholarship was available to seniors who plan to pursue a degree in a healthcare field. The criteria for the award were based on community involvement, school honors and activities, academic achievement, and a written essay. The essay asked applicants to explain how the experiences in their life have influenced their career choices and future goals.
Hunter is the son of Dawn and Keith Newton. He has a weighted GPA of 4.10. Hunter is involved in varsity baseball, varsity football, and community volunteering. Hunter will attend Pasco-Hernando Community College and transfer to either USF or Florida State to study Sports Medicine.
