Leonel P. Limonte, M.D.

Chief of Neurology Department

As the Chief of the Department of Neurology, Dr Limonte evaluates and treats patients who suffer disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Dr Limonte is an active member of several organizations that strive for academic excellence, including: American Academy of Pain Management, American Society of Neurologic Rehabilitation, Southern Orthopedic Association, National Headache Foundation, American Headache Association, American Medical Association, American Academy of Minimally Invasive Spinal Medicine and Surgery, International Headache Society and the Inter American Society of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery.

Dr Limonte has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career including, Alumni of the decade Award from Miami Dade College and the General Honors Program, Golden Key National Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society while at the University of Miami. He also served as Clinical Instructor of Neurology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Neurology in 1991 and 1992.

Research and Publications

Dr Limonte’s work has been published in multiple peer reviewed scientific journals including Radiology and the Journal of Southern Orthopedic Advances. He has been a frequent speaker and presenter at national and international conferences including the International Headache Society, American Academy of Neurosurgeons and Orthopedic Surgeons, the Southern Orthopedic Association, the North American Spine Society, the International Congress of Surgeons, International Congress of Neurosurgery, Argentinian Congress of Pain, the International Symposium of the Colombian Association of Neurosurgery, the Chilean Congress of Neurosurgery, and Latin American Federation of Neurosurgery.
In addition, Dr Limonte currently serves as Secretary General of the Inter American Society of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery, an organization that groups neurophysiologists, neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons of North, Central and South America and who are specialists in this field.
